Teen Vogue: Women Don’t Run for Office for These Reasons

Judith Warner told Araceli Cruz at Teen Vogue that her report Opening the Gates (for the Center for American Progress).

From the article:

‘… grew out of my work with the Reflective Democracy Campaign on the lack of representation of women and people of color in American politics and the deep structural reasons behind that,” [RDC Fellow Judith] Warner said via email. “In particular, it grew out of our shared frustration with the nature of the conversation about women’s political leadership in the U.S., which all too often rests upon a kind of ‘lean in’–style boosterism that ignores the deeper structural barriers that keep outsiders off ballots and make them invisible to voters.’
