‘The elimination of the donor threshold only benefits wealthy candidates and even worse, comes after nearly every single candidate of color dropped out of the race,’ says Brenda Choresi Carter, director of the Reflective Democracy Campaign, which promotes diversity in politics. ‘These arbitrary and unfair rules hurt our progress towards achieving a democracy that reflects the people it serves.’
